For the past three years, Fun-Raising School Gear has been helping Marsha Wolinsky, Founder of Jessie’ Sight Savers, raise money for the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB).  Marsha Wolinsky formed this organization to help fund research to save the sight of her now 17 year old daughter, Jessie, who has been suffering from Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), an incurable degenerative eye disease which can eventually lead to blindness, since the age of 7. Unless research intervenes, Jessie and 10 million other Americans with retinal degenerative diseases will continue to lose their eyesight.

Every year we ask that you show your support to Marsha, Jessie, Jessie’s Sight Savers, and Vision Walk by walking the 5K or waving her team members on as they walk. This year Vision Walk will be held on October 25th at Will Roger’s State Beach in Pacific Palisades. We ask that you try and attend this event and show your support! This event will include many activities (both parent and child friendly) including food, games, sand-castle building, beach ball, face-painting, a bounce house, kite and hula-hoop exhibitions, plus a lot more!

For complete directions and details visit www.fightblindness.org/LosAngeles and click on the “Helpful” links box. To register for the walk, visit www.visionwalk.org , click on “Los Angeles”, and then “Jessie’s Sight Saver Team”.  Donations can be made here or at the event.

For those not walking and who choose to make a contribution on-line, visit www.fightblindness.org/goto/marshawolinsky . Click on “Support Marsha” and go from there.

For questions about Jessie’s Sight Savers or Vision Walk ’09, contact Marsha Wolinsky at MARSHAWO@aol.com.

Fun Raising School has had the privilege each year to help Jessie create a unique T-shirt design that she would give as a thank you gift to all the “team members” who signed up to walk in her name.

Check out the designs that Jessie created with FRSG over the past few years.

We get thanked often for the work we do for schools and organizations, but it's rare to have someone come in to personally thank us, let alone give us a gift for something we do every day.  It was a pleasant surprise when Rick from the Simi Valley Brownilympics came in today with this special certificate of appreciation to thank us for our help with shirts for the event.  It was a touching gesture; one of many that make our work worthwhile.  We just wanted to thank Rick again for this wonderful gift.

FRSG would like to thank all of our supporters, old and new, for coming out to see us at our three most recent conventions (Santa Clarita, San Jose and Colorado)! We hope that you had a chance to check our some of the new stuff that we've come out with for this year as well as how far weve advanced in both design and technique. Some of our most popular new items include zip up hoodies with contrast strings and zipper, mesh dazzle shorts, burn out tees, Abercrombie style board shorts, girls distressed fashion shorts, Plaid pajama bottoms and flat bill caps.

Despite the downturn of the economy we've been lucky enough to get together with printers and vendors to colaborate, develop new ideas and keep those prices low for our schools without compromising our quality. The last of our PTA Giveaway Shirts have gone into production and should be sent out within the next two weeks. We would love to hear feedback from those of you that recieved one!!

It's been a busy past couple of months and we are so fortunate to work with all of you! Check out our new designs and keep checking back for updates. We're always coming out with new ideas while keeping it fashion forward and original.

See you there!

Fun-Raising School Gear was proud to be a part of the Dole Great Race of Agoura Hills on March 28, 2009!  This annual event represents everything Fun-Raising School Gear wants to see happen in communities throughout the U.S.A.  The proceeds for this event benefit local schools by helping to pay for programs not funded by the state.

FRSG was asked to create custom designs for each different race as well as many specialty items that were sold as store items.  Since we have been producing spirit wear for almost every single school that benefits from the proceeds of the Dole Great Race of Agoura Hills, we thought it was an event we needed to do.

We also felt that it would be great to hear all the feedback from our spirit wear coordinators and Great Race contacts at each school.  As always, the only way FRSG can become the best kind of “spirit wear you want to wear” is for you, our most important sources, to tell us what you want or don’t want.

So please, tell us what you thought.

We are proud to support all of the teachers and schools and we want you to show your support by wearing pink on March 13, 2009.  Join us and Las Virgenes Unified School District in Agoura Hills at Chumash Park on Pink Friday @ 4 pm.

This is a statewide day of action and we want you to take this opportunity to make a real difference in the way California supports its schools. We need everybody to stand up for schools. If enough of us stand up for schools, lawmakers will have to listen!

For more information about Pink Friday and how you can help in your area visit www.PinkFriday09.org or www.CTA.org.

Fun-Raising School Gear is passionate about this cause and would like to encourage all of our friends and supporters to join them in standing up for schools.

If anyone needs help getting a pink shirt for this event, Fun-Raising School Gear is more than honored to be of any help!  Please call or e-mail us by 12:30 PM Thursday, March 12, 2009.

Q:
Wed love to get your product but what do we do with this other vendors product that didnt sell? We dont want to invest or lose anymore money, do you have a solution?

A:
Dont give up, GET CREATIVE!

The most important thing about Fun-Raising is to have fun so, make a sample to show, plan a get together with or without kids & moms, & pass out copies of these simple and easy to follow directions.

Heres our secret:

What Youll Need:

1 Old Tee Shirt

Scissors

Ruler

Straight Pins

1.
Lay your tee flat and  cut the sleeve to your desired length. Cut off 2 above the hem from the bottom of the shirt. (Save fabric for step 6)

2.
Try on your shirt and measure the amount of fabric you would like to cut off from each side through both layers of the shirt. This could be from 3 to 6 depending on your desired fit and size.

3.

When you have determined how much you would like to cut, lay your tee flat and carefully cut along each side and stopping right at the end of the armhole.

4.

Use a pin on each side of the shirt to mark where the bottoms of the armhole should be.

5.

Starting from one of the pins, use the point from your scissor blade to poke small holes 1-2 apart through both layers down the side of the shirt 1 from the edge of the fabric. Repeat on the other side.

 6.

Remember that piece you cut off from step 1? Now you can put it to some good use! To make laces, Cut it across into horizontal strips (about 1 wide).

7.

Starting at the underarm, thread one strip through the two top holes- lacing and criss-crossing as you go. Tie the two ends in a bow or leave hanging at the bottom of the shirt.

8.

Repeat step 7 on the other side.

OPTIONAL: to make sleeves tighter repeat steps 2-7 on the sleeve stopping right before the armhole and tucking hanging strings in.

9,

Remove the pins and try on your tank.

So dont just dress up, lace up with something way more flattering andstylish!

Heres some other Fun-Raising get together ideas—

·       Mix & Match – use a different color lace than the color of the shirt.

·       Plan a fashion show-  at the end of your get together take poloroids and use them as hangtags on your new shirts.

·       Upload these directions - on your school website or newspaper and have a contest for the most creative an spirited use of one of your schools vintage or old tees.

Send use any of your Fun-Raising get together ideas!

Not  only  are  you  re- creating   your  old product,  but  you  can  even  charge  extra  for the  new  styles  &  it  won’t  cost  you  a  penny.
